1351831 Substituted cyclohexanones NAARDEN INTERNATIONAL NV 16 June 1971 [19 June 1970] 28204/71 Heading C2C Substituted isopropyl cyclohexanones of the formula in which R is H or CH 3 and X is -OH, -OCH 3 or halogen are prepared by treating nopinone or 2-methyl nopinone in the presence of an acid with a reagent capable of introducing the corresponding substituent X. Suitable agents are, for example, water to introduce an OH group, hydrohalic acids to introduce a halogen, and methyl alcohol to introduce a methoxy group. Examples describe the preparation of cis-2- methyl-4-(α-hydroxyisopropyl)-cyclohexanone ; cis - 2 methyl - 4 - (α - chloroisopropyl)cyclohexanone; 4-(α-hydroxyisopropyl)-cyclohexanone; 4 - (α - chloroisopropyl)cyclohexanone; 4-(α-bromoisopropyl)cyclohexanone; and 4-(α-methoxyisopropyl)cyclohexanone.
