Abstract
1351558 Dibenzothiazocine oxides EISAI CO Ltd 9 Oct 1972 [8 Oct 1971] 46447/72 Heading C2C Compounds having the formula wherein n = 1 or 2 and R is a C 1 to C 4 alkyl, C 1 to C 4 alkenyl or benzyl group or a C 1 to C 4 alkyl group substituted with halogen, hydroxyl or (wherein R<SP>1</SP> is a hydrogen atom or a C 1 to C 4 alkyl group and R<SP>2</SP> is a C 1 to C 4 alkyl group; or R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, constitute a heterocyclic group which may optionally also contain other hetero atoms): and pharmaceutioally acceptable salts thereof are claimed per se. These compounds may be prepared by reacting a bis-(2-halomethylphenyl) sulphide S-oxide of formula (wherein n = 1 or 2 and X is a halogen atom) with a primary amine of formula H 2 N-R (wherein R has the above meaning) and if desired salifying the product of the reaction. The reaction may be carried out in the presence of an acid bonding agent. The compounds may be used in pharmaceutical compositions together with a pharmaceutical carrier or diluent.
