Abstract

1351310 Carrying conductors through partitions ITW-ATECO GmbH 26 Aug 1971 [29 Aug 1970] 40124/71 Heading H2E A device for clamping a cable passing through an aperture in a wall comprises two interengaging portions each with a through-bore in which the cable lies, the bores being eccentrically positioned and the portions being rotatable relative to each other, and means for preventing the portions from returning from their relatively rotated positions. The portions 2, 4 are made of resilient plastics with circular crosssection bores 10, 12 and engage each other over a plane 14, with the portion 2 being fixed in the aperture (6) of a wall (8) and the portion 4 being rotatably mounted on the portion 2. The axis of rotation is normal to the plane 14 and the centres of the bores 10, 12 lie at equal distances from the axis, the distance being less than the radius of the bores, so that in one position the bores are wholly coincident but as the portion 4 is rotated the bores partly obscure each other to effect a clamping on the cable (30) therein. The portion 2 comprises a cylindrical shell 34 which is retained around a cylindrical surface 36 on the portion 2 by noses 38 which engage shoulders (40) at the end of the surface 36. Ratchet teeth (50, Fig. 4, not shown) on the surface 36 engage resiliently mounted complementary teeth (52) on the shell 34 to allow rotation to effect clamping but prevent return rotation unless the teeth are manually disengaged. A flange 68 secures the portion 2 against one side of the wall and projections 70 engage in the wall apertures to prevent lateral displacement and rotation of the portion 2, inclined portions (74, Fig. 7, not shown) of resilient arms (72) anchoring against the other side of the wall.
