Abstract

1351163 Chucks CRAWFORD COLLETS Ltd 7 July 1972 [9 July 1971] 32433/71 Heading B3B A rotary tool holder comprises a member 24 for receiving a collet 25 or other tool gripping member, a housing 10, and a drive means 20, 21, 22, 23 operative from said housing 10 to the member 24, said drive means including an arrangement permitting limited longitudinal relative motion between the housing 10 and the member 24, e.g. the pin 20 and slot 21, and further comprising an elastomer material 30 arranged between the housing and the member 24 to enable limited tilting movement to take place therebetween, the tilting movement being limited by clearances between the member and the housing. The said material may be in the form of a tough rubber bush made from polychloroprene "Prescolan" or from a plastics material such as "Mipolan" (Registered Trade Marks). Alternatively, the bush may be in the form of an annular capsule containing the elastomer material.
