1351093 Working stone VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT TEPLOIZOLYATSIONNYKA I AKUSTICHESKIKH STROITELNYKH MATERIALOV I IZDELY 6 June 1972 26348/72 Heading B5E [Also in Division E1] Apparatus for producing acoustical boards of a porous silicate material by, by cutting from a large block, grinding to size and then milling indentations in the boards, comprises a frame saw 1 including means 2 for intermittently feeding large blocks therethrough, an intermediate table 3 including intermittent feed means 42 to feed the boards towards a working platform 7 along which the boards are fed by an endless conveyer 8, means 6 to transfer the boards from the intermittent to the continuous feed and two milling stations on the work-table with a turntable therebetween, the first milling station sizing the longitudinal edges of the board and the second sizing the transverse edges and possibly also forming the indentations. The turntable rotates the boards through 90 degrees. When the indentations to be formed are non- linear the apparatus may include a third milling station at which they are formed. The finished boards may be coated with a soln. of liquid glass at a final station 60. Detailed dimensions of the boards and configurations of the indentations together with details of operation and control of the apparatus are also disclosed.
