Abstract

1474948 Fibre-reinforced sheets DANSK ETERNIT-FABRIK AS 23 May 1973 [7 June 1974] 25442/74 Heasing B5A A sheet is made from a hydraulic binder reinforced with macrofibres viz. fibres having a diameter of between 12 and 25 Á, by a method in which two flat fan-shaped jets 7 are directed against a support 4 in such a way as to intersect along a line parallel to the support, relative motion is effected between the jets and the support, and macrofibres 6 are supplied to the line of intersection of the jets along a plane containing the line of intersection and lying between the planes of the jets. In one embodiment of the process, the support is a rotating section cylinder whose axis is horizontal, the jets are reciprocated in a direction parallel to the axis, and the formed sheet is removed by cutting along a generatrix of the cylinder when the desired thickness has been attained. In a second embodiment, the sheet is formed on the upper horizontal run of an endless belt and transferred to a suction cylinder lying above the belt. In a third embodiment, the support comprises an intermittently advanced belt and the jets are reciprocated transversely to the direction of advancement of the belt whereby the sheet is formed as a number of sloping laminations.
