Abstract
1351090 Aerials ROCKWELL INTERNATIONAL CORP 7 Dec 1972 [17 April 1972] 56548/72 Heading H4A [Also in Division H1] A waveguide switch for distribution of energy between two branches comprises two Y- junctions 13a, 13b having arms 14a, 14b in common with a third junction 13c and four electrically operated switching devices 17a, 17b and 19a, 19b. The output is fed alternately to opposite ends of a scanning aerial array 10. The switching devices may be diodes operated in pairs 17, 19 from switching signal sources 20, 21 controlled by logical circuits 11, 14. Thus, when switches 17b, 19a are open and 17a, 19b closed, the input applied to port 3 is coupled to port 2, the short-circuited arm 15b is matched to the junction 13b and the inoperative output port 1 is coupled to the matched load 22a in arm 15a. When the switching potentials are reversed, port 3 is coupled to port 1 in a similar fashion. The switch is reciprocal in operation. Suitable dimensions for the arms of the switch and positions for the diodes in the arms are discussed with reference to Fig. 2 (not shown).
