Abstract

1350110 Mattresses &c R LAPIDUS 18 Dec 1971 58933/71 Heading A4M A bed pad comprises a resilient, porous foam sheet 41 overlying a flexible base support formed with a series of tubular ducts 45 or 145, 245 with perforations 46 or 146, 246 whereby air pumped through inlets 47 or 147, 247 to the ducts escapes through the perforations and then passes through the thickness of the sheet 41. In one embodiment, Fig.1, air may be intermittently supplied to the ducts 45 such that when the ducts deflate the body is supported on resulting tubes 49 sealed into pockets 48 disposed between transverse branches of the ducts 45. In another embodiment, Fig.4, two interdigitated duct systems 145, 245 with respective perforations 146, 246 are alternately inflated. The base support may rest on a foam base sheet 42.
