Abstract

1349963 Slip-casting truck system J LIPPERT [trading as MASCHINEN-UND STAHLBAU JULIUS LIPPERT] 7 May 1971 [26 May 1970] 13776/71 Heading B5A [Also in Division B8] A casting truck for ceramic slip moulds comprises a base frame 2 on wheels movable along a track 4 and supporting a mould-carrying frame portion 12 in such a way that the latter can be tilted to either side of the track to discharge residual slip. A holder 15 for mould parts 13 and 14 is mounted on the base frame in such a way that it does not tip with the frame portion. The frame portion 12 carrying two moulds 1 is provided at each end with downwardly extending lugs 28 which have a hook-like portion forming a hinge connection by engagement with pins 26 so that the frame 12 can thereby be lifted clear of the base at one side and will pivot about the pin 26 at the other side. Pivotal lift to the left is obtained by a means of an off-centre, downwardly projecting bar 29 which is lifted when it passes over rollers 30, either the bar being bevelled or the rollers being inclined, so that the frame 12 is tilted into the position 12<SP>1</SP>. Pivoting to the right is effected by a hook arm 35 which engages a pin 36 and retracts to position 35<SP>11</SP> thus lifting the frame 12 into the position 12<SP>11</SP> where an extension 39 comes to rest against a set of rollers 37 in position 39<SP>11</SP>. This lifting operation and its reversal are arranged to operate automatically. The moulds are clamped in position by a pivoted clamping device 41 with a screw spindle 42 to clamp the mould closure member. The mould-part holder 15 comprises an upright 16 supported from the base 2 by being pivoted at 18 through supports 19 which carry stops 20, 21 to limit angular movement of the holder. Such movement is effected by a roller 45 carried on an arm 44 attached to the upright 16, the roller travelling in a track 43 which diverges to position 43<SP>1</SP> to tilt the holder. The carriage is guided along the casting track by a roller 7 depending from the base on a rod 6 and running in a channel 8 and is drawn along by engagement of the end of the cantilevered arm 10 in a chain 11. In a modified arrangement, Fig. 3, the arm 10 is replaced by a slide 47; a link 48 of the chain being inserted therein so that it will slide from one side to the other as the carriage moves around narrow curves of either hand.
