1349339 Coin-freed amusement apparatus J W PROCTOR 13 May 1971 [13 Feb 1970] 55591/69 Heading G4V A coin-freed amusement machine of the type in which at the termination of a game on the machine displays a row or rows of symbols, the object being to attain a predetermined winning combination of symbols, which is arranged so as to allow a player a first game or group of games on the placing of a stake and in the event of a win during this first game or group of games allows the player a further game or games without the need to place a further stake, a prize being paid in respect of any predetermined winning combination in said further game or group of games. In the embodiment described a win during the first game or group of games pays a prize and also energizes a stepping relay which is then advanced one step on each game of the further group of games up to a predetermined limit, the relay then being zeroized. Stepping of the relay also serves to modify the switching condition in the payout unit so as to alter the amount dispensed in respect of a win during the further group of games. The number of games in the first group is determined by the amount of the original stake and the machine may be arranged so that in the event of a win during the first group of games the rest of the games in that group are forfeit. Similarly the rest of the games in the further group may be forfeited after a win in one of the games of that group. An indicator device connected to the stepping relay is provided to inform the player how many games of the further group have been played.
