Abstract

1349002 Tenter clip BRITISH CELLOPHANE Ltd 14 April 1972 [15 April 1971] 9556/71 Heading B5B [Also in Division D1] A tenter clip 1 consists of a body portion 2, 3, 4 to which are attached two planar surfaces 6, 7 defining a slot 5, through which is passed the edge of film 16. Surfaces 6, 7 converge towards the film, the angle between the surfaces being less than a critical angle above which there is no self-tightening effect obtained when a film gripped between a roller 8 and one of the surfaces is pulled away from the clip. Roller 8 has a diameter smaller than the widest separation of the surfaces but larger than the smallest. Means are provided for moving the roller out of the operative position; in the case illustrated the means is a lever 9, urged toward the operative position by a spring 14. An example of stretching a polypropylene film is given.
