Abstract

1348272 Coated products ARJOMARIPRIOUX 19 April 1971 [7 Aug 1970] 22791/71 Heading B2E [Also in Division Dl] Impregnated paper on which a hard-grained powder forms a coating is produced by electrostatic spraying of the powder onto the paper whilst the paper is damp. An embodiment of apparatus for performing this is shown, it consisting of a bath 3 of thermosetting resin, squeeze rolls 5 for removing excess resin, an electrostatic spraying device 7, and a dryer 10. The electrostatic spraying device may be succeeded by a further means for coating the paper with thermosetting resin, or preceded by such a means. The resin used may be phenolic resin or melamine, the powder being corundum, quartz, or silicon carbide.
