Abstract

1347321 Dental handpieces VYZKUMNY USTAV ZDRAVOTNICKE TECHNIKY 18 Oct 1971 [22 Oct 1970] 48431/71 Heading A5R A dental handpiece comprises a known electric micromotor 18, a dental drill holder, and means for coupling the motor to the holder. The coupling means comprises a tubular body 1 having a flange 15 secured to the motor by screws 12 One or more peripheral grooves are defined in the body by rings 3, 5, the or each groove accommodating a resilient friction ring 2, 4, in such a way that the rings are freely rotatable, but axially immovable. The outer diameter of each ring is larger than the inner diameter of the drill holder which is to be slid over the body so that the resilience and friction of the ring prevents the holder from slipping. The rings 2, 4 are slit at 10, 11 and have inwardly slanting edges. Within the tubular body 1 the coupling means also has a coupling element 7 which is attached to the motor shaft 6 at 8, and has a diametrical pin 9 and inclined portions 16 for engagement with the motor of the drill holder.
