Abstract

1347238 Coating apparatus D C M (SEALERS) Ltd 19 April 1971 [10 Feb 1970] 6445/70 Heading B2L Apparatus for applying adhesive to a surface comprises a container 1 with apertures in the base thereof the lower part of which container may be filled with adhesive and the upper part of which provides an air space which may be partially evacuated or pressurised to retain coating medium in the container or expel it therefrom. As shown air is continuously exhausted from the container 1 by a vacuum pump 7 acting through a pipe 5 to retain a low pressure in the container 1 and thus prevent egress of coating material. When it is desired to expel coating material a solenoid valve 9 is opened and high pressure air is admitted to the container via a pipe 8 to overcome the vacuum. Coating material is continuously supplied from a pressurised container 15, the flow being controlled by a valve 13 operating in response to a depth sensing switch in the container 1.
