Abstract
1347236 Ni-Cr thermocouple limb CENTRAL ELECTRICITY GENERATING BOARD 19 April 1971 [30 Jan 1970] 4659/70 Heading C7A [Also in Division H1] The positive limb of a thermocouple comprises a Ni-Cr alloy containing 85 to 88 wt. per cent Ni balance Cr with up to 0À6 wt. per cent Si or up to 3 wt. per cent Si and/or Mn remainder Ni and Cr in a weight ratio of 85:15 to 88:12 or 86À5 wt. per cent to 87À5 wt. per cent Ni remainder Cr. The negative limb is preferably 97 wt. per cent Ni 3 wt. per cent Si. In specific examples the positive limb is 87 wt. per cent Ni 13 wt. per cent Cr and the negative limb is either 95À4 wt. per cent Ni 1À2 wt. per cent Si, 1À8 wt. per cent Mn, 1À6 wt. per cent Al or 97À3 wt. per cent Ni 2À7 wt. per cent Si. The thermocouple matches an empirical cubic calibration curve to better than 1 K.
