Abstract

1347002 Support leg assemblies for trailers INTERTRUCK (MFG) Ltd 23 April 1971 [24 April 1970] 19736/70 Heading B7J [Also in Division F2] A trailer support member comprises an extensible strut 11 actuated at a selected speed by means of multiple speed gearing driving a threaded shaft 37, low speed being obtained by a gear 21 fixed on a first shaft 14 engaging a gear 26 fixed on a second axially movable shaft 22 to which a handle (not shown) is attached, high speed gear being engaged by axially moving the shaft 22 manually in a direction away from a casing 12 until an over-deadcentre or toggle mechanism, comprising a spring 29, a collar 31 rotatably connected to the shaft 22, but axially immovable thereon and a support member 27 pivotally attached to a bracket 28 on the casing, pushes the shaft 22 such that gears 25 and 20 engage. The shaft 14 drives the threaded shaft 37 via bevel gears 18 and 19, a captive nut 38, attached to an inner casing 35 of the extensible strut, engaging in the shaft 37 in the normal fashion such that the inner casing may be telescoped into an outer casing 34 rigidly attached to the casing 12.
