Abstract
1346880 Washing granular materials DEISTER CONCENTRATOR (AUSTRALIA) PTY Ltd 18 Oct 1972 [28 Oct 1971] 47944/72 Heading B2H [Also in Division F2] A concentrator, for separating mixtures of particles into heavy or large and light or small fractions, comprises at least one separating table 1 and a drive unit 3 of poly-eccentric flywheel type which generates reciprocating motion which is quicker in one direction than in the opposite direction, a rigid coupling 2 between the table and the drive unit, the coupling being releasable to permit the table to be adjusted at a desired sideways inclination, and attachment means 19, 25 on the drive unit and the table for suspending the concentrator on cables. The drive unit includes a pair of large eccentric weights 9 and a pair of small eccentric weights 11 releasably and eccentrically adjustably secured to arms 8, 10 which are in turn vertically adjustably mounted on parallel shafts 6, 7, the small weights rotating at twice the speed of the large weights. The coupling 2 comprises a first member 20 secured to the drive unit 3 and having a threaded shank 21 engaged in a threaded socket of a second member 23 secured to the table 1 and a lock nut 22 on the shank 21 to lock the two members against relative rotation and axial movement. An eye member 25 to which a cable may be connected has a threaded shank 26 with a lock nut 27, the shank being threaded into a socket member 28 fixed to the table 1 By slackening the locknuts 22 and 27 the table may be inclined sideways to any desired position. The concentractor may be inclined longitudinally by varying the length of the cables. The table 1 may have coarse riffles 30, Fig. 4, on one side and fine riffles 30a on the other side and the table may be turned through 180 to change from one riffle pattern to the other. The table may be made with a skeletal frame shown dotted in Fig. 1. By replacing one of the riffle surfaces with a mesh, air agitation of the material being treated can be achieved by introducing compressed air into compartments 31 which may be interconnected by apertures through the skeletal frame members 32. Gutters for collecting material washed sideways and lengthways of the table are provided at 35 and 36 respectively. A cable may be provided at the table corner 34 and a further cable may be secured to the drive unit 3. A number of tables may be rigidly coupled to a common drive unit.
