Abstract

134,636. Young, J. A. Nov. 12, 1918. Screw propellers.-Relates to propellers having two " headway " blades and two " sternway " blades. The two " headway " blades b, b, Fig. 1, are provided with a slight bulge on their concave faces as shown in section in Figs. 3 and 5, while the " sternway " blades c, c are of streamline section as shown in Figs. 2 and 4, the concavity and convexity extending from hub to tip. In the preferred construction, all four blades are of the same section, namely, that shown in Figs. 2 and 4, and the outlines of the blades about their centre lines are symmetrical.
