Abstract
134,633. Joyce, V. E., and Park Royal Engineering Works, Ltd. Nov. 12, 1918. Ceiling-roses; two-part couplings.-An adaptor, lamp-holder, ceiling rose, connector, or the like has an insulating-body divided longitudinally for a portion of its length and laterally to meet the said division to form major and minor portions 2, 2<a>. The major portion 2 has an integral partition 5, located between the terminals 10, 11 and extending beyond and above them, co-operating with a projection 9 from the minor portion to form a complete transverse partition. The recess 6 formed between the two portions is such as to accommodate a strain-taking knot 19 in the wires 13 which pass out through a passage 18, 18<a> formed partly in each portion. The portions are secured together by a transverse screw (not shown) passing through a hole 16<a> in the transverse partition so as to be completely insulated. Figs. 1, 4 and 6 show the invention applied to an adaptor in which the semi-cylindrical terminals 10, 11 form contact members and are moulded in the insulating-material. Figs. 13 to 16 show a lamp-holder in which the terminals, constructed as shown in Fig. 16, are also moulded in and secured, in addition, by an insulating-key 28 wedged between them through an opening 27 and engaging recesses in the sides of the terminals. A nut for the fastening-screw may also be moulded in position. The lamp socket is secured by tongues bent so as to engage the bevelled edges of the opening 27.
