Abstract

1346250 Shaft seals GELENKWELLENBAU GmbH 19 April 1971 [19 Feb 1970] 22109/71 Heading F2B A shaft seal 13 for the bearings of a universal joint comprises a ring 13 with a resilient sealing lip 14, and a sheet metal casing 17 for the seal having a skirt portion 18 which extends parallel with the shaft axis and is embraced with slight clearance by the legs of a member 19 of U- section mounted on the shaft. A labyrinth seal is thus formed to exclude grit from the sealing lip.
