1345284 Tube rolling mills PERVOURALSKY NOVOTRUBNY ZAVOD 20 June 1972 28799/72 Heading B3M A cold tube-rolling mill for rolling two tubes 10a simultaneously incorporates a frame 2 (Fig. 2, in plan) which supports two roll assemblies and is reciprocable by a crank-shaft 3, the frame being connected to a leverage system 24 (Fig. 4) such that the roll assemblies move relative to the frame during the reciprocation. As seen in Fig. 3, each roll assembly 29 (comprising three rolls arranged around a workpiece tube) is carried in a cage 28 rigidly attached to a common support 32. The support is connected by a bar 33 to a lever 36 (Fig. 4), and the housing 39 of the frame 2 is also connected to the lever, but at a point 40; as the lever reciprocates about its fulcrum 25, therefore, the frame 2 and roll assemblies move at different speeds relative to one another. This relative movement causes the rollers 29 (Fig. 6) to roll on profiled supporting rails 30 fixed to the frame, and hence roll a tube 10 over a mandrel 12 carried on a supporting bar 11. In addition to reciprocating movement of the frame 2, a feeding and indexing assembly 14 is driven by a common motor 8. The assembly incorporates a Maltese cross arrangement and indexes the mandrel bars 11 at the end of each double stroke of the frame 2.
