Abstract

1345190 Torque wrenches BROOM & WADE Ltd 13 April 1972 [8 April 1971] 9091/71 Heading B3N The torque wrench comprises a hand operated torque part 11 and a power operated torque part, both of which can be used to drive an output member 42, the torque output of each part is adjustable so that the torque limit for the power part is less than the torque limit for the hand part. Power is supplied by pneumatic motor 21 which drives member 42 through a gear train. Torque output is controlled by a variable restriction valve 51. The hand operated torque part "breaks" when it reaches its predetermined limit. Drive to member 42 is through boss 15, sleeve 46 and a roller race 45 that allows rotation in one direction only. During operation initial rotation of member 42 by the motor causes race 45 to over-run so that boss 15 is not driven. After stalling of the motor final torque is applied by the hand operated part.
