Abstract
1345156 Electric analogue calculating DAWNAY FAULKNER ASSOCIATES Ltd 28 May 1971 [8 June 1970] 27585/70 Heading G4G A circuit comprises a plurality of bipolar transistors some of which are of one conductivity types and the others are complementary types, each transistor having its collector-base junction reverse or zero biased so that there is a logarithmic relationship between emitter currents and the base-emitter voltages of the transistors, one or more inputs for input currents and means for obtaining an output current bearing a desired mathematical relationship to the input currents. Fig. 1 shows a circuit in which current Iz represents the product of currents Ix and Iy. Other circuits are described for finding the quotient, square and square root of input currents. Operational amplifiers may be connected across the input circuits to provide virtual earth inputs.
