Abstract

1344293 Visible signalling apparatus; display devices H KUHNKE 5 May 1971 13297/71 Headings G4F and G5C A visual signal indicator comprises an indicator element 14 which is movable to a position between a reflecting element 15 and a stationary body 18, so that an image of the surface of the element is formed and may be viewed, in the position shown, from above. The indicator is operated by applying pneumatic pressure at 8, when piston 11 moves element 14 upwards, thus replacing an image of the surface 19 by an image of the surface of element 14. Spring 20 returns piston 11 to its original position. The surface of the element may be of a distinctive colour or may carry patterns or words. In intermediate positions of the pistons, an image of concentric rings of different colours may be obtained. Total internal reflection may take place in the transparent conical element 15 or a reflecting surface 16 may be provided. Another embodiment, Fig. 1 (not shown), includes two indepenently movable, plane-surfaced indicator elements. Reference is also made to movement of the indicator element mechanically, hydraulically or electromagnetically.
