Abstract

1344134 Fluid pressure jacks; lever jacks ELECTROLUX AB 19 April 1971 [13 March 1970] 24054/71 Heading B8J [Also in Division F1] A lifting device incorporates a fluid pressure jack which comprises a base-plate 12 on which is mounted a lifting cylinder 11 with a spring- returned piston 53 having a bore 81 adapted to receive load engaging units. A limb 42 mounted on the base-plate 12 carries a pump unit 10 having a motor block 13 with a compressed air inlet 26. Depressing a push-button 29A feeds compressed air through a passageway 28 and causes a piston 15 to reciprocate in cylinder 14 driving pump rod 34 in its housing 35 to draw oil from a reservoir 48 (connected through opening 50 to the interior of the cylinder 11) and force it under the piston 53 to extend the jack. A push-button 36A allows the oil to flow back to the reservoir 48 to retract the jack. The lifting device shown comprises the jack, mounted by hand without the use of a tool on a carriage 71 through a bracket (78), Fig. 1a (not shown), engaging one end of the base-plate 12 and a pivoted locking arm 79 engaging the other end. The carriage 71 has transport wheels 72 brought into contact with the ground, when required, by tilting the device. Other embodiments of the lifting device incorporate the jack as an actuator in various constructions of lever jacks, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown). Compressed air is fed to the inlet 26 from a connection 69 at the end of tubular carrying handle 68. A conduit 70 is disposed so that the handle 68 serves as a water separator and equalizing chamber for the compressed air.
