Abstract

1502980 Hydro-pneumatic intensifiers REUTI ANSTALT 25 Sept 1975 [10 Oct 1974 4 Aug 1975] 39234/75 Heading F1D In the device shown in Figs. 1 and 2, when compressed air is admitted through a port 11, a piston 8 and rod 9 are moved to the right by the combined action of air acting directly on the piston and by hydraulic liquid acting on the lefthand end 19 of the piston-rod. A free piston 13 transfers the air-pressure to hydraulic liquid and this is forced through ducts 14 to act on the pistonrod 19. When the rod 9 has been moved the desired distance at a relatively high speed with a low-pressure, e.g. up to a workpiece, compressed air is admitted through a port 22. This moves a piston 20 with a rod 21 to the right. After a small displacement, the rod 21 closes ducts 14 and the piston 20 and rod 21 act as an intensifier and move the piston 8 and rod 9 to the right with greater force. Fig. 5, (not shown), illustrates the final position. Fig. 7 shows a simplified embodiment in which the piston 8 is omitted. Air-pressure applied to the port 11' acts on the piston 19 through a free piston 13' and hydraulic liquid which passes through ducts 14'. The intensifier section 20', 21', operates as previously described.
