Abstract
1343614 Heated rollers HONEYWELL Inc 19 April 1971 [22 May 1970] 25681/71 Heading F2U A heated roll 10 comprises a fluid-tight chamber 21 partially filled with fluid 22 and defined by surfaces including a tapered inner surface 14 of a heat exchanging shell 11, there being a source of heat 35 ... 45 at the larger diameter end 46 of the surface 14 capable of boiling the fluid 22 which then condenses on the surface 14 and is centrifuged back to the end 16. The source of heat may comprise a coil 35 fed with A.C. electricity in a magnetic toroid 40, 41 with an electrically conductive (e.g. Copper) strip 45. The shell 11 may be of magnetic material, the strip 41 then being omitted. The chamber 21 may first be evacuated before the fluid 22 is introduced through a tapered hole 23 which is then plugged with a ball 24.
