Abstract
1343608 Concrete formwork tie rod SYMONS CORP 6 April 1971 8873/71 Heading E1S A tie rod assembly for a wall form 10, 12 comprises a flat tie rod 34 extending between the panels 30 of the form and having weakened regions 38 which divide the tie rod into a central portion 46 and end portions 48 projecting through the panels, and rigid elongated sleeves 18 encompassing the end portions 48 and extending from the weakened regions 38 through the panels, the strongbacks 33 of the form carrying releasable fasteners 20 for securing the ends of the tie rod 34, and the sleeves 18 being drivingly connected to the tie rod end portions 48 immediately adjacent the regions 38 for the transmission thereto of torque applied to the outer ends of the sleeves in order to sever the end portions 48 from the central portion 46 which remains embedded in the concrete wall. The tie rod ends, the sleeve outer ends and the fasteners 20 have registering slots for the insertion of wedge bolts 22, and when these wedges are removed the slots in the sleeve ends are used to engage a torque-applying tool. The sleeve inner ends 60 are tapered and are internally grooved to drivingly engage the edges of the flat tie rod 34.
