Abstract

1343475 Photo-flash lamp WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 27 May 1971 [15 June 1970] 17527/71 Heading G2L A photo-flash lamp having a colour temperature at maximum output of not less than 4600‹K comprises shredded hafnium foil and an envelope having a protective coating. The light output may be from 4, 600 to 5,000‹ K according to the crosssectional area of the shredded foil. The foil may contain up to 10 wt per cent zirconium and the lamp may contain free oxygen up to a pressure of eight atmospheres. A flashcube including the photo-flash lamp is also disclosed. Since the colour temperature of the lamp is much higher than that of a zirconium foil photo-flash lamp a clear lacquer coating or cover may be used on the lamp or flashcube respectively instead of a blue coating or cover.
