Abstract

1343247 Determination of nrobilinogen BOEHRINGER MANNHEIM GmbH 14 June 1972 [19 June 1971] 27813/72 Heading BIX A diagnostic agent for the detection of nrobilinogen, possibly together with bilirubin in body fluids comprises at least one stable benzene diazonium salt, the optionally polysubstituted phenyl radical of which contains in the o or p position to the diazonium group at least one polyatomic electron donor group with at least one mesomeric electron pair, the sum of the Hammett sigma values of all the substituents not exceeding 0.4; a solid or liquid organic or inorganic acid or acidic salt and optionally a wetting agent and/or stabiliser. The benzene diazonium salt may have general formula where one or both of R 1 and R 2 is or are polyatomic electron donor groups containing at least one mesomeric electron pair, and when R 1 and R 2 are different one of R 1 and R 2 may be hydrogen, halogen or a lower alkyl radical, and R 3 and R 4 which may be the same or different are hydrogen or halogen or groups which do not sterically hinder diazo coupling with nrobilinogen. The diagnostic agent may be impregnated into an absorbent carrier, for example filter paper, fleece or felts of polypropylene or polyesters, from a solution containing per 100 ml 0.05 to 5 gm diazonium salt, 2 to 30 gm acid, 0.1 to 3 gm wetting agent; or may be used as a solution. In the presence of both nrobilinogen and bilirubin two successive colour changes may take place in the test system.
