Abstract

1343172 Dealkylating C 9 alkylaromatics BP CHEMICALS INTERNATIONAL Ltd 10 Aug 1972 [31 Aug 1971] 40540/71 Heading C5E C 9 alkylaromatic hydrocarbons are dealkylated to give mainly C 8 alkylaromatics and toluene at 210-600‹ C. and 0-1500 p.s.i.g. in the presence of H 2 and a catalyst comprising zeolite beta containing ions of one or more of the metals of Groups Ia, IIa, VIb, VIII, or the rare earths or NH 4 <SP>+</SP>. Preferred ions are CO<SP>2+</SP>, Ni<SP>2+</SP>, La<SP>3+</SP>, Ce<SP>3+</SP>, NH 4 <SP>+</SP> and W<SP>6+</SP>.
