Abstract

1342332 Powered fastener driving tool KAYNAR MFG CO Inc 8 May 1972 [11 May 1971] 21400/62 Heading B3N A powered fastener driving tool for delivering and inserting male fasteners into a receiving member comprises a supporting frame 10, a supply magazine 20 to enable delivery of fasteners at a discharge station 28, means adapted to connect the apparatus to a source of fluid pressure, powered transfer means carried by the frame adapted to transfer a fastener from the discharge station to a driving station, motor means 33 for said transfer means and fluid circuit means selectively actuable to establish communication with said source of fluid pressure and for powering said transfer motor means thereby to move the transfer means between the discharge and driving stations. The magazine is cylindrical, has a number of longitudinal chambers for housing fasteners and is rotatably indexable such that each chamber is aligned with conduit 43 so that fasteners can be urged towards the discharge station. The transfer means is a transport fork 30 which is operated by motor 33, a piston cylinder assembly, via a link 32. The driving station is adjacent a shrouded nosepiece 17 that is forwardly biased by a spring 16. Fluid circuit means ensures that during operation transfer fork 30 is retracted before the motor for the driving means, in this case a hammer 15, is activated.
