Abstract

1341507 Protective arrangements RAYTHEON CO 7 Oct 1971 [7 Oct 1970] 46806/71 Heading H2K [Also in Division H1] In microwave apparatus having means, e.g. a waveguide 36, coupling a microwave source 28 to a load, e.g. an oven 14, an element 52 is provided for directing reflected energy into means 56 for absorbing energy and causing an associated device (not shown) to effect the deenergization of the source 28. The element 52 is mounted in an offset position in the waveguide and may comprise a ferrite rod with an ainico magnet 54. The means 56 may be a mass of silicon carbide mounted flush with a narrow side wall surface. A bimetallic thermal switch may be heated by the mass 56 and, when operated, cause the operation of a relay or circuit-breaker in the supply unit 30.
