Abstract

In an electric iron whose sole plate temperature is controlled by an adjustable bimetallic strip, a green light glows when the temperature lies within a predetermined band lying on either side of the selected temperature. Continued movement of the bimetallic strip in either direction beyond that necessary to make or break the circuit to the iron element as a result of an increase or decrease in temperature taking it outside the predetermined band of temperatures causes one of a pair of further switches to short circuit the green light and cause a red light to glow.
