Abstract
1,239,789. Supply systems for microwave ovens. DYSONA INDUSTRIES Ltd. 3 Oct., 1969 [31 Oct., 1968], No. 51741/68. Heading H2H. A microwave oven includes a gas-filled tube which ionises and cuts off the oven supply if the field intensity becomes excessive. In the arrangement described, a neon tube 10 is mounted in an oven roof with its tip projecting an adjustable distance into the oven cavity. If the oven is switched on while empty, the increasing microwave field will cause the tube to ionise and complete a circuit through a relay coil 14 which closes a contact 14a. A contactor is thereby de-energized to switch off the oven. The tube may alternatively be mounted in a waveguide carrying power to the oven.
