Abstract

1341364 Determination of peroxides MER CK PATENT GmbH 28 Feb 1972 [26 March 1971] 9012/72 Heading B1X A process for the semi-quantitative deter-' mination of organic peroxides, for example ether peroxides, comprises dipping an indicator device responsive to peroxides into a solution of the peroxide in an organic solvent with a boiling point below 80‹C, removing the device from the solution, and while the organic solvent is still evaporating, introducing the device into a water vapour atmosphere with a substantially constant temperature between 20‹ and 100‹C and then evaluating the coloration of the device. The indicator device contains on an absorbent carrier peroxidase, at least one indicator which may be o-tolidine, benzidine, o-dianisidine, 2,7-diaminofluorene and optionally a buffer. The required water vapour atmosphere may be obtained by breathing on the device wetted with the organic solvent solution.
