Abstract

1341105 Raising liquids CREUSOT-LOIRE 19 April 1971 [12 Feb 19701 20701/71 Heading F1R [Also in Division B1] A device for introducing a gas or vapour into a liquid to produce vertical motion therein, comprises a open-bottomed chamber 1 into which gas or vapour is introduced through at least one tube 3 and discharges through a sintered material plate 5. After leaving a slot 7 the gas or vapour passes through the plates 5 which may be of sintered ceramics or sintered metal. To facilitate cleaning, the chamber 1 rests on abutments 8, and each tube 3 is detachable from a pipe 9 into which the gas is introduced. The plates 5 are spaced a distance h above the open bottom 2 so that when gas introduction ceases, liquid cannot rise above the distance "h" to contaminate the apertures in the plates 5. The chamber 1 may alternatively be cylindrical or frusto-conical and may have walls which are partly flat and partly curved.
