Abstract

1340432 Spray producers CIBA-GEIGY AG 3 June 1971 [4 June 1970 22 June 1970 29 June 1970 29 July 1970 3 Aug 1970] 18825/71 Heading B2F In an aerosol dispenser having detachable propellant cartridge and product container, valves for the cartridge and container are operable by displacing one relatively to the other. Preferably the valves are opened by displacing the cartridge and container towards one another. As shown in Fig. 14, Venturi nozzle 9 is formed as a coupler, between the propellent cartridge 90 and the product container 71, housing valves 47 and 59. The cartridge is assembled with the nozzle coupler 9 by forcing a piercing member 51, through a plug 93 which seals the valueless propellent cartridge 90. A similar connection is made with the product container 71. The valves 47 and 59 are shown in the open position, which is maintained by downward pressure P exerted on cartridge 90. As shown in Fig. 3, the valves may, alternatively, be operable by tilting their stems 10, 26 out of alignment. Finger pressure is exerted, through hole 17a or 17b in sheath 15a, on the cartridge 12a to effect tilting. A filter screen (8a, Fig. 4, not shown) may be provided in the propellent flow path 8 to the Venturi nozzle 9. The product in container 1b may be enclosed in a flexible sac(2) The nozzle coupler 6 may be made of plastics material and a simplified form may be employed (Figs. 6-8, not shown). When more than one product is to be dispensed, each may be enclosed in a separate flexible sac (Figs. 15-19 and 22-30, not shown) or the second product may surround a sac containing the first (Figs. 20, 21, not shown). Each product may pass through a separate obturating valve and mix with the other before reaching the nozzle outlet (Figs. 15-22, 28 and 29, not shown). Alternatively, the mixing may be deferred until the products reach the discharge outlet (Figs. 23-25, not shown).
