Abstract

1340431 Pipe plugger E PASS & CO Ltd 22 May 1972 [30 March 1971] 8731/71 Heading F2P A pipe-line plugger comprises a housing 34 for mounting on a side opening of a pipe 36, a carrier 30 in said housing movable towards and away from said pipe and a plug member 10 coupled to the carrier 30 by a pin 26 slidable in a slot 28 in the carrier so that movement of the carrier towards the pipe, firstly moves the carrier and plug into the pipe and then, by action of the pin 26 in the slot 28, moves the plug along the pipe into sealing engagement therewith. The plug comprises a body member 12 having a sealing cup 16 secured thereto and two spaced parallel lugs which embrace part of the carrier. The plug may also have a guide flange 23 and a roller 40. The carrier may be operated by an hydraulic ram.
