Abstract

The housing (1) is fixed to the drawbar (2) and closed, top and bottom, by cheeks (3), (4) supporting a shaft (5). This has at its upper end the draw hook or ball (6) and, at its lower end, an arm (7) which runs in a guide on the caravan drawgear, of the V type. Two flat pieces (11), (12), go along the housing axis, forming a seal. The shaft carries a vane (13) and suitable sealing joints which runs in oil. Two small orifices (16), (17) join up with the smaller space between the vanes. There is also a small channel (14), closed by an electromagnetic valve (15) when the brake "stop" circuit is energised. Damping thus ceases on brake application.
