Abstract
1340056 Centring workpieces SKF KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN GmbH 16 Dec 1970 [16 Dec 1969] 59745/70 Heading B3B In a method of centring a cylindrical member to render its longitudinal axis coincident with an axis of rotation about which it is to be machined or tested, the member 1 is held on a chuck 7 which may be magnetic and which is rotatable on a base member 6 which has a clampable vertical stop 10. At right angles to the stop 10 there is provided an adjustable sensing member 3, and the rotation of the member 1 with the chuck repeatedly contacts the sensing member due to any eccentricity between the axes and thus causes member 3 to transmit pulses to an evaluation device 4 which in turn passes signals to a feed mechanism 5 e.g. a gear motor which displaces the member 3 accordingly, until, when concentricity is achieved the pulse signal is continuous and the member 3 is subsequently withdrawn.
