Abstract

1339859 Laminated fabrics ROSSENDALE COMBINING CO Ltd 22 Aug 1972 [17 June 1971] 39054/72 Divided out of 1316072 Heading B5N A composite fabric comprises a layer of textile material bonded by an adhesive to one side of a layer of a polyurethane film material which is impermeable to water, the other side of the film layer being bonded by an adhesive to a second layer of textile material. The textile material may be the same on both sides of the product or different types or patterns of textile material may be used on the two: sides. One of the layers of textile material may be a woven fabric and the other may be a knitted or non-woven material, e.g. a stitch bonded web of viscose rayon, polyacrylonitrile or polyester fibres. A strong, elastic, pliable polyurethane film resistant to dry-cleaning solvents and having a thickness of 0À001-0À003 inch is preferably used. The adhesive may be a two component isocyanate, polyurethane prepolymer urethane-urea, cross-linkable acrylic or rubber/resin type adhesive. In examples two layers of nylon tricot fabric or melted fabric of wool and cotton fibres are bonded to a polyurethane film using an adhesive comprising a branched polyester containing hydroxyl groups and a polyisocyanate or a mixture of a reactive acrylic copolymer and a melamine-formaldehyde resin.
