Abstract
1339562 Disc brakes; pad mounting GIRLING Ltd 22 July 1971 [7 Aug 1970] 38089/70 Heading F2E To prevent rattle in a disc brake the pads are retained on radially resiliently compressible pins 24. In the embodiment shown the pins 24 pass through holes 23 in the pad backing plate and through holes 25. Fig. 1 (not shown), in the caliper housing and are compressible roll pins of larger uncompressed diameter than the holes. Each pin comprises a cylinder of springy material with an axial split 26, Fig. 3 (not shown). The end of each pin can be deformed to provide a stop. Separate pins may be used on each side of the disc. A split pin 29, Fig. 6 (not shown), may be inserted through the pin 24. The disc brake may be a single or multidisc and may be of the sliding disc type and opposed pistons 14 provided for actuation of the pads.
