Abstract

1339531 Cutting tubes IMPERIAL-EASTMAN (UK) Ltd 2 Oct 1972 45343/72 Heading B4B A tool for stripping the ends of a hose comprises a rotatable stripping head having an interchangeable or adjustable mandrel 10 adapted to enter the bore of a tube, an enlarged portion 38 on the mandrel for limiting the penetration of the latter into the tube and the radially inward movement of a knife block 18, the knife block carrying a pair of blades 32, 34. The mandrel 10 is screwed into an adaptor 6 connected to a shaft 4 which may be rotated manually or by a motor. The adaptor is provided with flats 26 engaging in a slot 24 formed in a plate 16 integral with the knife block. To set the blades to the correct position, the knife block is moved radially inward until surfaces 44, Fig. 2, in the block contact the enlarged portion 38, the movement being effected by a ring 12 having a cam slot 22 engaging with a pin 20 on the plate 16. In a modification, a permanent mandrel may be used, the different diameters and dimensions being provided by using removable sleeves or collars.
