' 3 Claims. (01. 1er s2 My invention relates to means-for accurately 17 for locking the body on the rod at a selected cutting sheet material. 7 position thereof.
My invention relates specifically to a gasket The block 16 has between arms 18, and excutting device which is especially adapted for tending from its lower side a roller 19 for a pur-' use with a hand brace or with a machine actuator. pose to be indicated. The opposite end of the 60 It is an important object of my invention cutter bar is formed with a reduced spindle 20. to provide a device of this kind which cleanly Upon this reduced spindle is adapted to be and accurately cuts gaskets of very narrow width, placed a pair of dished cutter disks 21,22, which and which is especially constructed to enable this have hubs 23, 24, whose exterior diameter is 0 to be done. approximately the same as that of the cutter t It is also an important object of my invention bar 12. to provide a simple and inexpensive device of It will be observed that these cutters 21, 22, this kind in which ruggedness, and accuracy in have their concavities facing radially inwardly. results is not sacrificed, despite its low cost. Though I have shown and described herein a preferred embodiment of the invention, it is to be understood that changes in size, shape and materials and arrangement of parts can be made consistent with the spirit of the invention and the scope of the subjoined claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:-
1. The combination with a gasket cutter including an axially rotatable member, a transverse cutter bar carried thereby, and a plurality of cutter disks adjustable on the cutter bar, of a plurality of washers for interposition on the bar between the cutter disks for adjustably spacing them and between the disks and a portion of the bar for spacing the disks from the portion, and nut means threaded on the bar for maintaining the washers and disks in adjusted positions, said disks being convex concave and capable of being substantially nested for cutting a very narrow gasket, the concave sides of the disks being based radially inwardly with respect to the cutter bar to facilitate the operation of the cutter and cut cleanly.
2. In a rotary cutter, an axially rotatable member carrying a transverse cutter bar, a reduced threaded portion on one end of the cutter bar, and on the reduced portion a pair of convex concave cutter disks disposed with their convex sides radially outwardly, a radially outward tubular extension on the convex side of the radially outward disk, a radially inward tubular extension on the concave side of the radially inward disk, nut means on the reduced threaded portion for locking the disks in spaced and nested positions.
3. In a rotary cutter, an axially rotatable member carrying a transverse cutter bar, a reduced threaded portion on one end of the cutter bar, and on the reduced portion a pair of convexconcave cutter disks disposed With their convex sides radially outwardly, a radially outward tubular extension on the convex side of the radially outward disk, a radially inward tubular extension on the concave side of the radially inward disk, nut means on the reduced threaded portion for locking the disks in spaced and nested positions, and spacer means receivable on the threaded reduced portion between and inward and outward of the disks and radially inward of the nut means for adjustably locking the disks on the reduced threaded portion.
