Abstract
1339235 Rolling VYZKUMNY USTAV TVARECICH STROJU A TECHNOLOGIE TVARENI 3 Feb 1972 [11 Feb 1971] 5203/72 Heading B3M A cross wedge rolling machine comprises a pair of work rolls 3, 4 each provided with wedge tools 5, 6 and a feeding device 7 for bar stock or blanks provided with a series of stations which can be brought successively into the rolling space between the rolls. The device comprises a cylindrical cage provided with a set of slots 8 to receive blanks 14 from a shoot 13. The cage is indexed one station for each revolution of the upper work roll 3 by engagement of dogs 12 on the roll and stops 11 on the cage. The cage is held in its indexed position by a spring-biased pin 10 engageable with depressions 9 on the end wall 7a of the cage. The blank is centred by ribs 21 on the upper roll. The rolling preferably takes place in the plane through the axes of the rolls 3, 4 but may be arranged to take place on either side of the plane. The slots 8 may be defined by balls, or rollers (15), Fig. 3 (not shown) in the cage or the cage may comprise parallel rods (16a) Fig. 5 (not shown), between a pair of end discs. An intermediate blank (14a) can be positioned for initial rough rolling simultaneously with the finish rolling of the blank (14). The rods can be provided with guide rollers (18), (19), Fig. 7 (not shown), urged by springs (20) towards each other. The cage may have a cutting edge to sever the bar stock either before or after rolling.
