Abstract

1339046 Moulding coloured polyurethane foam articles PBU (PROGIL-BAYERUGINE) 4 Nov 1971 [5 Nov 1970] 51272/71 Heading B5A In a process for the production of polyurethane foam articles having a coloured outer surface, the surface of a mould is coated with (a) an aqueous dispersion or emulsion of a film forming substance which is a polymer or copolymer of unsaturated compounds, and (b) a pigmented polyurethane paint, the foamable composition to form the body of the article then being introduced into the mould. The unsaturated polymer or copolymer may be of butadiene, vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, vinyl alcohol, vinyl esters, acrylic and methacrylic esters, styrene or isobutylene. Preferably a mould parting agent (e.g. a silicone compound) is employed. Numerous examples of articles which may be produced are given and include furniture, window frames, building panel, vehicle fittings, pipes, artificial limbs, containers and shoes.
