Abstract

1338872 Missile launchers; containers FRANCE ARMED FORCES MINISTER OF 23 Feb 1972 [24 Feb 1971] 8438/72 Headings F3C and F3A A container for the storage and launching of a missile 2, Fig. 1, has an elongate body of rectangular cross-section having longitudinally extending metal launching rails 3 provided with fixing members 7 by which the rails are secured to the walls of the container and with skids of synthetic plastics material which are carried by the rails and support the missile. A unit, comprising the missile 2, rails 3, rear skids 4 and central skids 5, is assembled together, the skids being disposed between the missile 2 and the rails 3, and is then mounted, with the assistance of a member 12, Fig. 9, into the container. The member 12, having rollers thereon, is moved into position to temporarily support the front ends of the launching rails 3 until a front skid 6 is placed in position. The container has end portions 9, 10 secured thereto by screws. The end portions, which are made of synthetic plastics material are made frangible by score marks and are metallized so as to render them impermeable to electromagnetic radiation. The skid 6 is formed in two parts and a spring 14, Fig. 13, causes their ejection during the launching operation, the central skids 5 are also ejected and the rear skids 4, having been adhered to the rails 3, remain in situ.
