Abstract

1338808 Ethyl cellulose composition TRW Inc 5 Oct 1971 [14 Dec 1970] 46285/71 Heading C3F A composition for making injection moulded patterns is composed of the following: (i) 2 to 50% by weight of ethyl cellulose; (ii) 5% to 26% by weight of a wax having a softening point of at least 140‹ F.; (iii) a saturated fatty acid of 12 to 18 carbon atoms (or an ester thereof) having a litre of 113‹ to 149‹ F.; (iv) 0 to 60% by weight of a hydrocarbon resin as herein defined, the sum of this resin and the fatty acid material being from 30% to 90% by weight. The preferred fatty acid is stearic or palmitic acid and the preferred ethoxyl content of the ethyl cellulose is 47À5% to 49%. The preferred viscosity of the ethyl cellulose is from 3 to 52 c.p. The composition may also contain an antioxidant, in particular 2,6-di-t-butyl-p-cresol plus an epoxy resin.
