1338763 Detergents containing soaps SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ NV 12 Aug 1971 [14 Aug 1970] 39410/70 Heading C5D [Also in Division C2] Detergent compositions comprise one or more alkali metal salts of carboxylic acids prepared by reacting an olefinically unsaturated compound, an alcohol, an ether and/or a carboxylic ester with CO and H 2 O, at 160-240‹ C. and 15-150 atg. in the presence of NiI 2 and/or CoI 2 , there being present a total amount of at least 0À002 moles of NiI 2 , CoI 2 and/or precursors thereof per mole of H 2 O and the molar ratio of NiI 2 and/or CoI 2 to H 2 O being correlated with the reaction temperature as represented in a graph (not shown). Other components of the compositions include anionic and non-ionic additives, inorganic builders, bleaching agents and other detergent auxiliaries; mixtures of the soaps with other surfactants are disclosed.
